REPORT OF ELECTROENCEPHALGRAM

Condition of Patient: Cooperative
Sleep: Drowsy
Proactive Procedure: Hyperventilation, Photic Stimulation
Application: 21 electrodes, 10-20 international system placement; paste

REFERRING PHYSICIAN: Brian Levy, M.D./Robert Dow, M.D.
TECHNOLOGIST: P. DeShazo, R.EEGT.
Date of Tracing: 4/28/92

DESCRIPTION OF EEG:

This is a 17 channel EEG obtained on a 26 year old female described as alert during this recording.

The recording begins with the patient in a waking state and displays a well developed 10 hertz alpha background which is symmetric, blocks with eye-opening, and resumes with eye-closure.  The frontal regions have irregular low voltage fast activity.  EKG monitoring shows no significant abnormality.  Throughout this recording drowsiness waxes and wanes, but never is there a pattern of clear-cut sleep.   Hyperventilation produced little change in the background. Photic stimulation was performed and show no clear photic driving.

CLINICAL INTERPRETATION:

This is a normal waking and drowsy EEG, without evidence of lateralized or epileptiform abnormality.
