Read or Die is a 3 part OAV series based on the novels and manga by Kurata Hideyuki. Watch it - it's beautiful & completely entertaining (no realism here). The characters have the greatest powers. One of the bad guys has this ability to channel electricity from surrounding sources & then unleash it on say, the White House, or a group of helicopters. Another character has the ability to move through objects & then effortlessly solidify herself again. A character based on Son Goku has the classic "power pole extend" ability as well as controlling both fire and steam (nimbus!). The main heroine is typically ditsy, but with the ability to control paper - & her code name is "The Paper." She's completely oblivious to everything except when it comes to her books - she's just obsessed with books. Her motivation for participating is to acquire books, & while that may seem really dumb, it's pulled off really well in a light, comical manner.

Animation:

This has to be one of the most well drawn and highly detailed animes I've seen in awhile. Seriously, look at the image gallery!

Music:

The opening theme is this catchy spy theme, but overall, the sound is superb!

I really like the characters. the villians are all pretty interesting and The Paper is kind of funny in her little, obsessive way.
