Tenchi does what? With a girl? This final Tenchi movie takes place in an alternative dimension with an older, more mature Tenchi, that I must say, I really enjoyed.

The story starts out with Ayeka and Ryoko demanding Tenchi to finally choose between them in the classic, comedic Tenchi manner. Dodging the question, Tenchi flees to the Masaki shrine, where a mysterious girl named Haruna with some connection to the camellia bush takes him to another dimension.

Six months later, Ayeka and Ryoko and working as partners, the rivals still haven't found him nor do they have many clues. Still, they continue to work in Tokyo as waitresses in hopes that something will turn up.

Meanwhile, Tenchi is living with Haruna and has no recollection that this is an alternative world, of his past at the Masaki shrine, or of Ayeka and Ryoko. He is also more mature, with longer hair and different emotions, and seems genuinely happy with their relationship. It's nice to see Tenchi grow up and engage in a loving, civic relationship after the constant bickering and slapstick of Ayeka and Ryoko.

Ayeka and Ryoko eventually are able to expose Haruna's illusion while Tenchi slowly regains his memories of his old life. Ryoko emerges the winner for Tenchi's emotional affections as Haruna's world fades away.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5.0

Tenchi Forever is drawn somewhat differently from the anime with a more mature Tenchi and more vivid colors than the series.

The music is very well done.

I enjoyed seeing the more mature Tenchi outside the influences of Ayeka and Ryoko. He seems better equipped to make decisions and truly enjoy a peaceful, loving relationship with a girl that feels the same. Yes, the relationship started on false pretenses, but Tenchi really seems happy once they're into it - I almost wished Ryoko and Ayeka would have left him move on with his life rather than drag him back into the zaniness of his past.
