The TARDIS travels to 1066 were the Doctor finds a wristwatch and other anachronisms. The discover that the Meddling Monk, another traveller from the Doctor home planet, is attempting to alter the time lines by useing futuristic weapons to ensure Harold's victory at Hastings.
