American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials decertified Route 66 as a highway.  It runs from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California and passes through these eight states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
