   Civil Rights Act Passes
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 passes after an 83 day (60 working days) filibuster in the US Senate.  The fillibuster was led by Democrat Senators Richard Russell, Strom Thurmond, Robert Byrd, William Fulbright and Sam Ervin.  Richard Russell started it in late March.
